The main hill tract in Bangladesh is Chittagong hill tracts. It comprises an area of 13,295 square kilometres in south-eastern part of Bangladesh. It shares the border line of India and Myanmar. Chittagong Hill tracts has formed a single district at 1984 and later divided into three districts: Khagrachari, Rangamati and Bandaban.
The early history of the Chittagong Hilly area is the record of constantly recurring raids on eastern hill tribes and of the operations undertaken to repress them, The Chakma are the single largest tribe, making half of the tribal population, is now made Peace Treaty in 1997 under some packages and now considered as peace and serine place.
