Winslow Homer ( 24th February’1836 – 29th September’1910): He was an American printmaker and landscape painter, widely known by his marine subjects. He is considered as a paramount figure in American art community and one of the foremost painters in 19th-century America. Homer was found largely self-taught. He started his line of business working as a commercial illustrator. Consequently he took up oil painting and fashioned major studio works characterized by the density and weight, which he exploited from the medium. He worked extensively in watercolor as well, creating a prolific and fluid composition, mainly chronicling his working vacations.
